Donna will work hard to protect Ohio Medicaid Expansion that supports working families and children in poverty.
- 1.2 million children in Ohio are in the Medicaid program and 1/3 of Medina County’s children 5 years and younger are covered by Medicaid.
- This protection is under attack by the Federal Government as they devise ways to reduce funding and put into place work requirements for recipients which disproportionately effect the disabled population.
Families shouldn't have to start a "Go Fund Me" page to pay for life threatening medical care or afford live saving medications – like insulin. And seniors shouldn’t have to choose between paying for food and paying for their medications.
When Donna and her husband started their business, they couldn’t afford regular health insurance for a family of 5, so to make sure they were prepared for the catastrophes in life, they purchased Major Medical with a $10K deductible @ $585/month. Donna suffered from menstrual hemorrhages for 5 years and had to pay out of pocket for emergency medical procedures, because they couldn’t afford the hysterectomy she desperately needed. No family should face those medical choices.
