Donna is an Air Force Veteran – she served from 1986-1990 as an Intelligence Research Analyst. She kept pilots and commanders informed of enemy surface to air and air to air missile threats. She traveled all over the world and spent 3 months in Saudi Arabia during the Iran-Iraq War. She never saw combat, but she witnessed a lot of history during this time. The Challenger Space Shuttle blew up on the launch pad, the US bombed Tripoli, Iraq, the Iran and Iraq War came to an end as did the Cold War with the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Donna is also a former small business owner. She and her husband bought a Minuteman Press franchise and started a printing business in 2009, in the middle of the worst recession of her generation. She built a successful business over a 10 year period and recently sold to another franchise owner so he could expand is clientele and his territory.
Donna is a wife and mother. Donna has been married to Brian for 28 years and has 3 grown, successful children who all attended and graduated from Wadsworth schools. Jessica is a graduate of Indiana Bloomington Mauer School of Law and has just finished her Indiana Bar Exam, Benjamin is an engineering graduate of Virginia Tech who now lives and works in Virginia, and Connor is currently a Sophomore at OSU studying Math, Physics, and Computer Engineering. And Brian is a manufacturing executive in the custom water jet and router industry.
Donna grew up in Eastern Kentucky on tobacco fields and coal mines the oldest of 5. She knows what it’s like to be denied housing for a single mother with 5 kids, to live paycheck to paycheck deciding what to pay first, and to stand in the free line for lunches at school. She knows what it’s like to leave home after high school to serve her country and send money home to help pay the bills.
Donna also knows what it’s like to build a business from the ground up to support a family and employees with a living wage. And she knows how much a good education costs today because of cuts to our education system by our GOP government.
Donna brings experience, commitment, and passion to lead Ohio forward in 2020. Donna is ready to advocate for working people as they raise their families, access healthcare, take advantage of educational opportunities, and strive to feel safe in their schools and communities.
